MISYS OPEN SOURCE SOLUTIONS LAUNCHES OPEN CARBON WORLD PORTAL
Company Introduces Web Portal to expedite the development of the carbon market, provide clear information, policy news and issues resolution to market advocates
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (May 15, 2008) – Misys Open Source Solutions, a division of Misys plc (FTSE:MSY.L), in conjunction with several industry partners, announced today at the California Climate Action Registry’s 6th Annual Navigating the Carbon World conference that it has launched a beta-version of its Open Carbon World portal for members of the carbon community interested in driving market policy.
Since January 2005, the carbon trading market in Europe has continued to grow under the direction of the European Union Emission Trading Scheme (EU ETS), created in conjunction with the Kyoto Protocol. Now with the U.S. on the brink of instituting a “cap-and-trade system” for emissions trading, and with the rapid evolution of a domestic voluntary market, a centralized and transparent repository is needed for members of the carbon community to contribute, gather and share accurate information about the carbon market.

The Open Carbon World portal will consist of several components designed to provide clarity, advocacy, collaboration and market creation for emissions trading. These include:
- Carbon Wiki—Provides comprehensive up-to-date industry information, vetted and overseen by an editorial board made up of industry experts.
- Carbon Stacks—Allows recognized industry leaders tohouse contributed studies and white papers.
- Carbon Policy Dashboard—Provides and highlights immediate developments potentially impacting policy.
- Community forums—Affords hosting capabilities for variety of industry workgroups including INCIS and open source standards.
