Misys Healthcare Systems Demonstrates Interoperable Misys Optimum RIS-PACS Solution at PACS 2005
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS—MARCH 9, 2005—PACS 2005 CONFERENCE—On the heels of the HIMSS rally cry for interoperability standards to build a national health information network by Health Information Technology Coordinator David Brailer, M.D., Ph.D., Misys Healthcare Systems reveals its integrated Misys Optimum™ RIS-PACS solution at the PACS 2005 5th Annual Conference. The product demonstration will show how radiology and picture archiving communication system (PACS) solutions can work in tandem with electronic health records (EHRs) across the care continuum.
“Technology is available today for hospitals and physicians to accomplish the goal of a complete HER providing ubiquitous sharing of patient-specific clinical information through standard protocols supporting interoperability,” said Dave Jones, B.S., R.T. (R), senior product manager of radiology applications at Misys Healthcare Systems. “At PACS 2005, we intend to show how the Misys Radiology™ product line achieves the goal of interoperable systems through DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) standardization that closely aligns with IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) guidelines.”
According to Jones, the benefit of a PACS unified with any enterprise solution goes beyond radiology imaging. “The ability to transmit images of any type and scan digital documents to electronically share or post to a patient’s electronic record enterprise-wide are invaluable to overall care treatment,” he said.
Tom Stevenson, D.O., director of medical informatics at Misys Healthcare Systems, agrees. A member of the EHR Vendors Association and Physician EHR Coalition responsible for assessing standards to enable connectivity of health information software, he said, “Certainly, PACS access through the EHR is the direction the healthcare industry is heading, and physicians are first to voice their need to integrate PACS with their EHR. Doctors want every image and result data available to aid their clinical decision making.”
At the PACS 2005 Conference, Misys will showcase:• Misys PACS Integration Module, the company’s innovative technology that unifies a healthcare organization’s radiology information system, the various modalities and PACS to essentially communicate in the same language without a broker and improve interoperability.
• Misys Radiology, a RIS information system that integrates information, images and voice into one easy-to-use, easy-to-access information source to deliver operational efficiencies. Misys Radiology version 4.3 is generally available.
• Misys Image Management™, a PACS solution powered by eRad/ImageMedical™ developed technology that delivers, manages and stores medical images, reports and associated data throughout the healthcare enterprise. Working over any TCP/IP network using high-speed LANs, WANs or low-bandwidth modems, over the Internet or a VPN, the PACS’ hierarchical architecture provides centralized and distributed data management across multiple servers. New solution enhancements include: Integrated dictation and transcription, advanced 3-D and volume rendering, orthopedic templating, and enhanced consulting and workflow functionality.
