Misys Healthcare Systems’ Customer Receives Esteemed 2006 Davies Award of Excellence

Generations+/Northern Manhattan Health Network Awarded the HIMSS Davies Award of Excellence for Leadership in the Healthcare Industry

RALEIGH, N.C. - November 9, 2006 - Misys Healthcare Systems, a market leader in healthcare IT, announced today that the Generations+/Northern Manhattan Health Network, a member of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC), has received the 2006 Davies Award of Excellence from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) for their successful transition from paper to digital patient records.

"The two highest goals of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation are to be the safest and most technologically advanced health system in the United States," said HHC President Alan D. Aviles. "Armed with our state-of-the-art electronic health record from Misys Healthcare Systems, we have not only met these goals, we have exceeded them. We are honored to accept this award as a token of our achievements."
The Generations+ Network, which consists of Harlem, Lincoln and Metropolitan Hospitals, three family health centers and numerous ambulatory care facilities, embraced health information technology solutions back in 1986 by adopting an electronic health/medical record (EMR/EHR) from Misys Healthcare Systems to provide the best, most advance patient care. Misys' software solutions enable HHC to share critical patient data across their systems, connecting the hospitals and more than 40 ambulatory sites.
"The accomplishments of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation and its affiliates are remarkable," said Tom Skelton, CEO of Misys Healthcare Systems. "Addressing the healthcare needs of patients within an economically disadvantaged health system, HHC had the incredible foresight to incorporate IT solutions into their operations years before others started to consider the issue of healthcare IT and interoperable systems. Misys Healthcare Systems congratulates HHC on this distinction."
"It is an exceptional honor for our Network to be bestowed the prestigious Davies Award in implementing our Misys' EHR system," said José Sánchez, executive director of Lincoln/senior vice president of the Generations+/Northern Manhattan Network. "The clinical and business solutions strengthen our access to vital patient information thereby improving the quality of patient care and patient safety." Mr. Sanchez accepted the award on behalf of the Network.
Misys Healthcare Systems is committed to the adoption of health information technology and to the interoperability of health information systems. Enabling physicians and caregivers to more easily manage the complexities of healthcare, Misys' family of products are designed to increase patient information sharing across organizations, healthcare settings and technical solutions, setting the standard for industry-wide interoperability.
"Our clinical users, including our medical staff, nursing staff, social workers, dieticians therapists, and financial counselors, access electronic health records, view data results, transmit orders and download data for reporting," said Maricar Barrameda, Network chief information officer of the Generations+/Northern Manhattan Network. "The impact of EHR has improved patient safety and quality of care to such a degree that all the facilities of the Network consistently rank high in healthcare delivery."
HIMSS is the healthcare industry's membership organization exclusively focused on providing leadership for the optimal use of healthcare information technology (IT) and management systems for the betterment of human health. The Davies Award is considered to be the most prestigious industry award for healthcare IT implementation.
