Misys Healthcare Systems Vice President Tapped to Advise Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology

Cathy McKillip Named to CCHIT Work Group

RALEIGH, N.C. – May 15, 2006 – The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHITSM) has named Misys Healthcare Systems Vice President of Operations Cathy McKillip to its Certification Process Advisory Work Group. CCHIT’s mission is to accelerate the adoption of health information technology by creating an efficient, credible and sustainable product certification program.

CCHIT’s Certification Process Work Group serves as an advisory group to CCHIT’s Executive Director to develop and refine the policies and procedures of commercial product certification. The work group’s goal is to ensure that CCHIT’s certification activities are credible and efficient while generating a high level of customer satisfaction with CCHIT’s services. Its scope of work includes both the Ambulatory and Inpatient domains.
“CCHIT’s achievements reflect the dedication of our volunteers and their commitment to accelerating the adoption of robust, interoperable health IT,” said Mark Leavitt, M.D., Ph.D., CCHIT’s chair.  “Our work group members are selected for their individual expertise as well as balanced representation from our stakeholder groups.”
Misys Healthcare Systems, a market leader in healthcare IT, is committed to the adoption of health information technology and to the interoperability of health information systems. Enabling physicians and caregivers to more easily manage the complexities of healthcare, Misys’ family of products are designed to increase patient information sharing across organizations, healthcare settings and technical solutions, setting the standard for industry-wide interoperability.
“Our formal role with CCHIT demonstrates Misys’ commitment to the adoption of health information technology, the interoperability of solutions, and the creation of certification and program standards,” McKillip said. “By working toward a credible and sustainable product certification program, we will reduce the risk of health IT investments by physicians, ensure interoperability of all IT products, and protect the privacy of patients’ health information. Standards-based IT solutions will advance the creation of a truly connected healthcare system that improves patient safety while reducing overall costs.”
Founded in 2004, CCHIT was awarded a contract in 2005 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to develop, create prototypes for, and evaluate the certification criteria and inspection process for EHRs and the networks through which they interoperate.
