Misys CPR and Wellsoft EDIS Partner to Provide Superior Emergency Department Solution Providing Better Continuity of Care Throughout the Hospital
RALEIGH, N.C. and SOMERSET, N.J. (January 8, 2006) - Misys Healthcare Systems, a market leader in healthcare IT, and Wellsoft Corporation, a pioneer in Emergency Department Information Systems (EDIS) software, today announced a partnership to provide Misys clients with a complete IT solution that includes software for use in the emergency department. The partnership enables Misys to offer Wellsoft EDIS as part of Misys CPR®, an enterprise-wide Web-based solution that delivers enterprise clinical information management via integrated computerized physician order entry (CPOE). Misys will market the solution as Misys ED featuring an integrated workflow with Misys CPR.
According to healthcare consulting group Bristol Group Mitretek, more than 13 million patients per year are admitted through hospital emergency departments nationally, a figure that represents over 40 percent of all hospital admissions. "With such a high percentage of hospital admissions coming directly from the emergency department, hospitals are in need of a solution which helps expedite care efficiently, with significant improvements to clinical workflow," said John Santmann, MD, president and founder of Wellsoft Corporation.
