450-Member Physicians Group to Recommend Misys® Solutions for Improving Patient<br />Care and Building a Community-Wide Health Information Exchange
RALEIGH, N.C. (September 12, 2007) – Misys Healthcare Systems, a market leader in healthcare IT, today announced that West Michigan Physicians Network (WMPN), a Grand Rapids-based organization of 450 physicians representing almost every medical and surgical specialty and practice size, has selected Misys solutions with an overarching goal of creating a connected healthcare community. The WMPN Board of Directors has endorsed Misys EMR® for electronic medical records and Misys Tiger® practice management systems as preferred healthcare IT tools to enhance patient care, safety and efficiency throughout the network of individual physician practices.
Additionally, as EMR adoption increases in West Michigan, physicians can begin sharing selected patient information and data via the web-based Misys Connect® technology. The data-sharing capabilities of Misys Connect can help improve productivity and patient safety by creating a more connected healthcare community that spans physician practices, hospitals and laboratories, homecare environments, and other venues of care.
“WMPN leadership strongly believes in the long-term value of EMR in supporting the patient care goals of our physician practices and the community,” said Tom Janda, executive director of West Michigan Physicians Network. “Our job is to assist our members in making the best decisions regarding EMR, to negotiate attractive contract terms, and to assist where possible with implementation. We believe the Misys partnership supports all of these goals.”
Multiple practices within WMPN are already using Misys products, and the company’s broad customer base in the western Michigan area was a major factor in the selection process. The organization also cited the adaptability and flexibility of Misys EMR as noteworthy attributes since the product matches a broad spectrum of medical specialties and practice needs.
“In reaching this important decision point, the West Michigan Physicians Network has fulfilled a primary commitment to its physician members and also outlined a promising future for the patient population of the state,” said Mike Etue, senior vice president of sales for Misys Healthcare. “By encouraging the use of advanced healthcare IT and setting the foundation for a connected healthcare community, the organization is clearly focused on providing the best tools for its members and the best care possible for patients. We value the endorsement of WMPN and look forward to working together in making that promise and potential a reality.”
As part of the new relationship, WMPN members already are starting to take advantage of pre-negotiated contract terms and favorable product pricing to quickly deploy new solutions in their practices.
